Do you value the stories — the history of family that went before you? 

It’s an interesting thought in this generation where what is on the internet is seen as truth, but what comes out of the mouth of our elders is often “Fact-checked” and found wanting.

But I hear from families every month who realize, sometimes too late, that the stories of their parents or their grandparents, are about to be lost forever. 

I had the privilege of growing up with four of my grandparents, and they even would get together with all of the family at holidays. I got to hear years of stories and play old card games with them around the table. I treasure those days that have been gone for nearly 30 years. 

The main photo on this page is of my grandfather who lived to be over 101 years old. i got to sit down with him at age 97 and take that photo, along with an hour of interview with him sharing. his story and answering questions. It was such an amazing experience. But even more amazing is that I have the opportunity now to share his book and his videos with my children who are young adults. 

This is an important part of my family and our story. My own grandfather is still impacting his grandchildren long after his departure from this world. And I also go to experience the joy and honor he felt as we sat and listened to him share from his heart near the end of his life.

Now every day I get to pursue these stories. I chase after the opportunity to honor the elders who are passing before my generation. They have so much wisdom and a wealth of stories to share.
